Candle Wax Types

I have been using petroleum based wax since 1997.  My results have been outstanding.  I have also tried soy wax, but really didn’t give it a good testing.  I did notice with soy wax that the concentration of dye needed is much greater than that needed for coloring petroleum wax.  I have also heard comments from candle makers that soy wax will not retain the scent if left uncovered for a length of time. I have not had any experience using beeswax.  I would be interested in hearing what other candle makers and consumers have to say about candles made from these types of waxes.

Getting Started

This is my first post in my new blog. I’m not quite sure where to start. I am co-owner and creator of Conway Candle Co. I have been making and selling candles since 1997. I am also employed full-time and have a home, a husband and two children in college. I hope to be able to connect with others who have an interest in candle making and small business. By relating some of my trials and errors since starting my ‘accidental business’, I feel I may be able to offer some help to the new candle maker. Please feel free to leave a comment and let me know what you think.
